The long-awaited Summer Holidays are nearly here! All parents want the best experience possible for their kids. As educators, linguists, and parents ourselves, we at Spell Languages have built a Summer Camp Program that brings everything a kid could want. Central to Geneva, we offer camps in English, French, and German, including immersive and fun adventures, carefully selected themes, passionate and creative teachers, daily outings to local sites, games in the park, arts and crafts activities, songs, stories, and much more!
Week 6 Weekly Theme: Moviemakers Studios
Have you ever wished your favorite movie had a sequel you could help create? Throughout the week from August 3rd to August 7th, your children will step into the role of a real film-making team tasked with developing an original sequel to a well-known film deciding what happens after the original story ends, how the characters have changed, and what new challenges they face. Working like real filmmakers, they build the sequel from the ground up through script ideas, auditions, acting scenes, set and costume design, sound effects, and cinematic trailer-making. Each activity adds a new layer to the film as it evolves from a rough idea into a fully developed story. By the end of the week, campers will have created and premiered their own movie sequel, experiencing how a film continues beyond the screen and becomes something they actively shape together.
Immersive Language Play
Campers will use language in a playful, collaborative way as they invent stories, take on roles, and bring scenes to life as a film crew. Through improvisation, dialogue building, and creative direction, they will naturally expand their vocabulary to express ideas, describe actions, and communicate emotions on and off screen.
Daily Activities
Throughout the week, campers will explore the art of film-making by acting, improvising, and building stories together as a creative film crew, such as:
- film your own action sequence, then replay it in slow motion and act out exaggerated movie-style movements;
- explore your town like a director and shoot the same scene from different angles;
- experiment with hands-on special effects to create movie magic;
- bring your imagination to life with green screen film-making.
Daily Crafts
Campers will turn their ideas into visual creations by designing, building, and decorating elements of their own movie world, including…
- craft a clapperboard using cardboard or black paper and use it to start each scene like on a real film set;
- design and paint movie backdrops to build their own movie set;
- design VIP passes and film festival tickets to bring the movie premiere to life.
Daily Outings
Each day, campers will head out to explore storytelling and theater in inspiring real-world settings, with a full-day visit to the MUDAC in Lausanne, followed by creative experiences at Parc Gustave & Léonard Hentsch for movement and stunt practice, an Apple Workshop to explore digital film-making and editing, and the Vieille Ville to shoot cinematic scenes.
