Summer Camp Week 6 - Storytellers Lab - 4-6 years old (03.08-07.08)

The long-awaited Summer Holidays are nearly here! All parents want the best experience possible for their kids. As educators, linguists, and parents ourselves, we at Spell Languages have built a Summer Camp Program that brings everything a kid could want. Central to Geneva, we offer camps in English, French, and German, including immersive and fun adventures, carefully selected themes, passionate and creative teachers, daily outings to local sites, games in the park, arts and crafts activities, songs, stories, and much more!

Week 6 Weekly Theme: Storytellers Lab

A theater director is in crisis: the script for a major play has been lost and the actors have walked out one week away from the premiere. Throughout the week from August 3rd to August 7th, campers step in as the new theater company, helping rebuild the production from the ground up through auditions, character creation, puppetry, set-building, stunts, music, and sound effects as they reconstruct scenes piece by piece. Each activity becomes part of the creative process: casting roles, sharing moments on stage, building the world of the play, and discovering how the story can come together without a script.

Immersive Language Play

Step by step, campers will learn language in a playful, interactive way as they improvise scenes, create characters, and come up with new ideas. Through acting and role-play, they will naturally build vocabulary to express emotions, actions, and simple stories while bringing the play to life together.

Daily Activities

Throughout the week, campers will take part in improvisation games and theater-making activities as they rebuild the story together, including...

  • build a Kapla stage together and use toys and plushies to act out scenes and bring vocabulary and storytelling to life;
  • create a shadow puppet theater and experiment with light and silhouettes to tell stories;
  • explore costumes and face paint to design characters for your play, choosing looks that match their personality and story.

Daily Crafts

Campers will also bring the play to life through creative hands-on making inspired by their improvisations, including...

  • build and paint small puppets and improvise short scenes;
  • craft musical instruments and sound makers functional to the play;
  • design costume pieces like crowns, wings, masks, or capes to become your favorite character on stage;
  • build and decorate giant backdrops and sets together.

Daily Outings

Each day, campers will head out to explore storytelling and theater in inspiring real-world settings, with a full-day visit to the MUDAC in Lausanne, followed by creative experiences at Parc Gustave & Léonard Hentsch for movement and stunt practice, the “Faire Avec” atelier for hands-on puppet making, and the Vieille Ville to shoot cinematic scenes.

Camps at Spell Languages also include...

  • Free childcare from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. outside the camp hours;
  • Discounts available for registrations of 2 weeks or more;
  • Sibling discounts that can be combined with discounts on multi-week registrations;
  • Option to order a 3 course lunch (starter, main course, dessert);
  • Half-day or full-day registration available;
