Summer Camp Week 4 - Nature’s Magic - 4-6 years old (20.07-24.07)
The long-awaited Summer Holidays are nearly here! All parents want the best experience possible for their kids. As educators, linguists, and parents ourselves, we at Spell Languages have built a Summer Camp Program that brings everything a kid could want. Central to Geneva, we offer camps in English and French including immersive and fun adventures, carefully selected themes, passionate and creative teachers, daily outings to local sites, games in the park, arts and crafts activities, songs, stories, and much more!
Week 4 Weekly Theme: Nature's Magic
What looks like magic is often science waiting to be discovered. Throughout the week from July 20th to July 24th, campers will explore how science explains the most extraordinary wonders of space, Earth, and beyond. Each day focuses on a different area of science — from space and gravity, human body, senses, and biology, to Earth, rocks, and physical forces — helping children see how powerful and interconnected everything is. As they move through these challenges across the week, campers begin to understand concepts like gravity, energy, light, and motion through exciting missions, experiments, and problem-solving tasks. By the end of the week, children see that what feels like magic is actually science in action and they are part of it.
Immersive Language Play
Campers will explore science in a new language through missions, experiments, and problem-solving tasks about space, Earth, the body, and beyond. As they work like real scientists, they will share ideas, test theories, and record discoveries while building vocabulary to describe concepts like stars, forces and matter.
Daily Activities
Throughout the week, campers will take part in science missions and experiments inspired by space, Earth, more, such as...
- grow your own sparkling crystals;
- experiment with simple circuits using batteries and paper clips to see how electricity flows;
- act as Earth and Moon, using light to explore day, night, and Moon phases;
- create and explore the non-newtonian fluid to discover unusual properties of physics (solid vs liquid behavior).
Daily Crafts
Campers will explore science through hands-on activities and experiments including…
- build a simple solar oven to use sunlight;
- create a spinning illusion or kaleidoscope to explore light and vision effects;
- model a volcano with clay and trigger a safe chemical “eruption” experiment;
- create bio-plastic using cornstarch, water, and vinegar, and shape it into a sun-catcher.
Daily Outings
Each day, kids will head outdoors to experience science in action through exciting visits such as a full-day adventure at CERN, a trip to the Musée des Sciences, and an exploration of the Jardin Botanique and more!
