The long-awaited Summer Holidays are nearly here! All parents want the best experience possible for their kids. As educators, linguists, and parents ourselves, we at Spell Languages have built a Summer Camp Program that brings everything a kid could want. Central to Geneva, we offer camps in English, French, and German, including immersive and fun adventures, carefully selected themes, passionate and creative teachers, daily outings to local sites, games in the park, arts and crafts activities, songs, stories, and much more!
Week 5 Weekly Theme: The Art in Me
How can art help us discover and express who we are? Every child is an artist, and art is a joyful adventure that opens the door to self-discovery. During the week from July 27th to July 31st, campers dive into hands-on creative missions where art shows up in surprising and exciting ways: splashing bold colors like a paint explosion, dancing and moving like their ideas have come to life, and turning textures, sounds, and stories into something totally their own. By the end of the week, all of these creative discoveries come together in a special mini exhibition: a joyful, colorful celebration of each child’s unique identity, personality, imagination, and unique way of seeing the world.
Immersive Language Play
Campers will learn language in a playful, creative setting where art becomes a way to express ideas and emotions. Through hands-on missions in painting, movement, storytelling, and sensory exploration, they will naturally build the vocabulary to describe what they create and experience.
Daily Activities
Throughout the week, campers will take part in creative, hands-on art experiences that explore imagination and expression including...
- create modern-style installations using only colored hoops, exploring shape, balance, space;
- art scavenger hunt around Spell;
- reading of Mix It Up! by Hervé Tullet as a starting point for hands-on color experimentation;
- play a game of “clay sculptures”: in pairs, one is “clay” and the other is the sculptor, shaping a still statue.
Daily Crafts
Children will bring their ideas to life through artistic projects that encourage experimentation with color, texture, movement, and storytelling, including...
- create a “Museum of Me” shoe box diorama;
- create compositions using different materials and surface textures to explore tactile art;
- paint while listening to different music or sounds to express rhythm and feeling through colors;
- trace the outline of the head and fills it with symbols, objects, and images that represent identity, interests, and personality.
Daily Outings
Each day, campers will bring creativity outside the classroom and into the city, experiencing art across Geneva through inspiring visits such as a full-day at the Musée Cantonal des Beaux-Arts, the Centre d’Art Contemporain de Genève, the Musée d’Art et d’Histoire, and more!
