Summer Camp Week 3 - Sports Broadcast Academy - 11-14 years old (13.07-17.07)

The long-awaited Summer Holidays are nearly here! All parents want the best experience possible for their kids. As educators, linguists, and parents ourselves, we at Spell Languages have built a Summer Camp Program that brings everything a kid could want. Central to Geneva, we offer camps in English, French, and German, including immersive and fun adventures, carefully selected themes, passionate and creative teachers, daily outings to local sites, games in the park, arts and crafts activities, songs, stories, and much more!

Week 3 Weekly Theme: Sports Broadcast Academy

Some of the most memorable experiences in sport come when we look beyond the score and begin to understand what is really happening in every moment of play. Throughout the week from July 13th to July 17th, campers step into the world of live sport as players, commentators, reporters, analysts, interviewers, and producers covering the action from every angle. Whether describing a last-minute goal, interviewing athletes after a challenge, or communicating with teammates while playing, campers build confidence using language in real, dynamic, and fun situations. As the week unfolds, they will discover that sport is not only about winning games, but also about understanding the emotions, stories, and perspectives behind every moment on the field.

Immersive Language Play

They will jump into fast-paced matches, create live commentary, film interviews, debate key moments, invent headlines, and work together to produce their own sports broadcasts — all while practicing a new language through speaking, reacting, questioning, and communicating in the midst of the action.

Daily Activities

Throughout the week, campers will engage in a range of sports and movement-based activities that encourage skill-building and teamwork, such as...

  • provide dramatic live commentary while runners battle for the finish line;
  • fact or fake: investigate scores, question sources, and decide what really happened;
  • jump into a multisports circuit featuring stations testing speed, accuracy, teamwork, and endurance;
  • produce a live sports broadcast from opening intro to final sign-off.

Daily Crafts

Because sports are about more than just movement, campers will also explore their creativity through hands-on projects including...

  • invent fun awards categories;
  • design a sports newspaper front page including appealing headlines and drawings;
  • create a “quote of the day” board to remember memorable comments;
  • fill athletes’ profile cards and create stats for players.

Daily Outings

Outings this week will take campers outdoors for a full-day adventure at the Musée Olympique in Lausanne, as well as visits to Parc Gustave & Léonard Hentsch, and the Centre Sportif Bout du Monde to try different sports and take part in their own mini Olympic competition.

Camps at Spell Languages also include...

  • Free childcare from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. outside the camp hours;
  • Discounts available for registrations of 2 weeks or more;
  • Sibling discounts that can be combined with discounts on multi-week registrations;
  • Option to order a 3 course lunch (starter, main course, dessert);
  • Half-day or full-day registration available;
  • One full-day outing per camp.
