The long-awaited Summer Holidays are nearly here! All parents want the best experience possible for their kids. As educators, linguists, and parents ourselves, we at Spell Languages have built a Summer Camp Program that brings everything a kid could want. Central to Geneva, we offer camps in English and French, including immersive and fun adventures, carefully selected themes, passionate and creative teachers, daily outings to local sites, games in the park, arts and crafts activities, songs, stories, and much more!
Week 1 Weekly Theme: Geneva Treasure Hunt
What Geneva secrets are hidden within the letters of the alphabet? From June 29th to July 3rd, your kids will follow a magical treasure hunt inspired by the book ABC Geneva, discovering the city one letter at a time Each day will be focused on discovering our city through its history, nature, city life, art, and international spirit as campers search for missing alphabet “treasures” connected to meaningful places and symbols of Geneva. By the end of the week, children will begin to see Geneva with new eyes, recognizing its places, sounds, and stories, and discovering their own special connection to the city.
Immersive Language Play
Campers will collect “alphabet clues” from the city itself, listening closely to sounds, names, and stories around them. Through playful challenges, they will connect letters to places and objects, expanding vocabulary while strengthening observation, expression, and storytelling skills.
Daily Activities
During this week-long adventure, campers will explore Geneva through a series of interactive challenges, city explorations, and discovery games such as...
- explore the city to identify and record city sounds linked to letters of the alphabet;
- play a precision challenge game by aiming and “shooting” balls at targets on the wall to build coordination and focus;
- build a miniature version of Geneva using blocks and recycled materials to recreate its landmarks and spaces.
Daily Crafts
Because every discovery inspires creation, campers will express what they learn through hands-on artistic projects and collaborative making, including:
- create a collaborative map where each letter represents a landmark, street, or feature of Geneva;
- design a personal interpretation of Geneva’s flag using shapes, colors, and symbols;
- craft a miniature version of the famous Flower Clock, adding creative details and decorations;
- build and personalize an ABC Geneva book to collect discoveries from the week.
Daily Outings
Each day, children will head outdoors to explore Geneva and its surroundings, experiencing nature, culture, and the city from new perspectives through exciting outings such as a full-day adventure to Mount Salève, La Jonction, Bois de la Bâtie, a boat ride on Lake Geneva aboard the “mouettes”… and, as a special highlight, a Meet & Greet with the book’s author!
